old-ass pitchas
Hea and me
I was telling Heather the other day how fascinated my brother and I were with her when she was born. We thought she was the cutest most adorable thing we'd ever seen. We would spend countless hours trying to imagine what she'd look like when she grew up. We were sure she'd be a movie star or something.
I have one memory in particular of us in the Oldsmobile, which we called the Almostbile, on the way to Grammie's house. Heather was about two, and was in her car seat between Todd and I in the back seat, and we were so engaged in a conversation about how cute Heather was and telling each other what we thought she'd look like at our ages that we forgot to ask "ARE WE THERE YET?" even once.
She had pigtails in with giant white pom poms on them, and a red shirt under a denim jumper with overalls and blue tights and her shoes that matched mine. Back then, Jan did a lot of shopping at Payless (for us of course, it was Field's all the way for her), and I had found a pair of awesome wedges that came in my size and Heather's, so we could match!
And then we got to Grammie's and Heather probably did something goofy and made my gramps laugh that cute laugh he always had. He thought Heather was hilarious. She was awesome at pratfalls.
Or wait, those were real, weren't they?
